EDM - 1 House~Big Room

EDM, in fact, contains a lot of dance music styles, and is often used as the general name of electronic dance music.

However, most people when they hear the term EDM, will immediately think of Big Room house music. Even from the name, you can tell this genre is suitable for playing in a large venue, with a BPM around 128

Big Room can be divided into two large categories of branches. Electro House (meaning only Electro House in the Big Room style) and the Progressive House (not Sasha, John Digweed’s Progressive House).

Electro House

First, Electro House is usually simple and rough with exaggerated drop and breaks, it can quickly and strongly mobilize the dance floor mood, and most of the songs you can join the ‘1- 2-3-Jump’. These are the characteristics of Electro House.

Progressive House 

In Progressive House (not Sasha, John Digweed type of Progressive House), the focus of the sound is the emotion, represented by a strong melody and chords. This became popular beginning with Swedish House Mafia, many of the Progressive House styles can be attributed to them, and the popular Melodic Progressive House from 2014 to 15 years is representative of this genre.

This style is very close to Big Room, and originated in Australia. Melbourne Bounce has a simple Bassline and make great party tracks.

Hardstyle ~ Big Room

Finally, Hardstyle’s Headhunterz and Showtek, who are very popular in the Netherlands, have joined the EDM Army, and Hardstyle’s King has had a huge impact on Big Room.
