PYRO Does ADE 2018
For the past 3 years and counting, PYRO was invited by Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) to partake in the festivities and share its experiences with it’s followers in China. This year is no different as we prepare to embark on yet another week long adventure through the streets of Amsterdam as its overwhelmed by sensational concerts, productive workshops and compelling conferences.
Every year, the Amsterdam Dance Event grows ever bigger and broader. In 2018, it will welcome more than 2,500 artists and 550 speakers from around the world to educate and entertain in more than 160 venues and locations. Dance parties and performances take the city day and night, and as the electronic music genre expands into pop and hip-hop markets, so, too, do the genres represented as part of ADE’s official programming.
To put this into perspective, try imagining a top capital city in China such as Shanghai or Guangzhou in which the entire city gets decked out in ADE festival flags on the streets, shops and halls cleared out to host ADE events, shop decor all dedicated to the event. The city essentially transforms each year to accommodate the festivities, and the best part is – the locals not only support it, but also join in the annual celebration!
The city takeover transcends more than just into the concert halls and shops, but onto the train where you’ll overhear fellow passengers discussing their favorite set from the night before, or bikers hurrying to attend a producing workshop hosted by Sander Van Doorn. It has something for everyone, which is why it is expanding more and more every year.
“We’re almost at the point of reaching the magical 400,000 visitors mark, and we still see lots of opportunities to grow,” ADE-director Richard Zijlma is quoted in a press release. “ADE aims to be a world stage for musical talent and the music industry. With visitors from more than 100 countries now you can confidently claim that Amsterdam is truly the beating heart of the worldwide music industry during ADE, while being at the same time a breading ground for cultural and technological innovation for five days and nights.”
Some lineup highlights, and China favorites include: Martin Garrix, David Guetta, KSHMR, Nicky Romero, Yellow Claw, Atmozfears, Axwell + Sebastian Ingrosso, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Jay Hardway, Headhunterz, Vini Vici and many more. Its fair to also single out, it may be the final performance from Hardwell, as he recently announced an indefinite hiatus from touring.
